Second Player of Year Award in a Row for Beckett

Gary Beckett was the toast of the Fermanagh & Western Football League Awards dinner in the Fir Trees Hotel, Strabane on Friday night as he was named First Division player of the year for the second year in a row.
The Enniskillen Town United centre forward fought off the close attentions of runner up Darren Teague from Junior Cup winners Strathroy Harps while Harps defender Benny McElholm was third.
Fellow Enniskillen Town team-mate Matthew McAuley won the young player of the year award with Cameron Crawford second and Enniskillen Rangers' Michael Holden and Strathroy's Caolan McCrossan in third.
Killen goalkeeper Trevor Morrison won the Division Two player of the year award with David Burke of Sion Rec winning the Division Three's top player.
The player of the year awards had been nominated by all the clubs but with only 13 of the 34 clubs attending the dinner and many in each division not even nominating players, league secretary Gerry Connolly and league chairman Neil Jardine expressed their "disappointment" at the general lack of apathy from some clubs although numbers attending the dinner were slightly up.
The teams of the year for the three senior Divisions were also named on the night with all the winning teams and runners-up in the six divisions receiving their medals.
